Artwork Requirements

ARTWORK DETAILS

Every print process has its limitations. Our ink types and printing methods have different limitations when it comes to detail. We may advise you on some of these when selecting colors or discussion file formats.

In general, please keep in mind that images downloaded from the web are not print ready. These files will require additional design work to make them print quality. Saving a low-resolution file into one of the acceptable formats above will not give us a vector or hi-resolution file. If you do plan to create your own artwork, we recommend Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. Our designer can work with you to recreate a design, or develop one, as well as mock up your design on a tee or apparel item.

ACCEPTED FILE FORMATS

If your artwork is vector based or 300DPI (or higher), odds are we’ll have no issues printing it. In an ideal world, we prefer the following file types: PSD, .AI, .JPEG, .EPS, .PDF, and .TIFF.

Vector formats:
AI, (VECTOR) PDF, EPS

Raster formats we will accept:
PSD, TIF, EPS, PDF, TIFF, JPG, PNG

If you’re not sure about the quality or format of your artwork, we can take a look at it and let you know if we can work with it.

VECTOR VS RASTER

The main difference between vector and raster graphics is that raster graphics are composed of pixels, while vector graphics are composed of paths. A raster graphic, such as a gif or jpeg, is an array of pixels of various colors, which together form an image. Raster images cannot be sized up without losing resolution, while vector graphics can be scaled to any size without pixelization or loss of detail. Learn more about this here.

We require vector artwork or high resolution raster artwork created at 300DPI (or higher). Artwork created at a lower resolution will be pixelated or blurry, and cannot be re-sampled to 300DPI. If you’re just starting out, it is ideal to create the artwork at the size you think you’d like it printed, and if you need a hand with this, we’re always here to help.

TEXT TO OUTLINES

To avoid having to send us the fonts you’ve used throughout your vector-based design, we suggest turning all text to outlines. Read more about how to do this here

CHOOSING COLORS

We encourage you to choose from our Amano House Ink Colors. You may also select a custom, non-house color for an additional charge. If your brand uses a particular Pantone color, please let us know. If you don’t select a house color, you’re at the mercy of our designer’s choice, who will pick our closest Amano House Ink Color. Every computer monitor displays colors differently, and this is one of the reasons we like you to select a color. Select your colors here.
